Tenancy Deposit Scheme
By law, all landlords and agents in Scotland must lodge a tenant’s deposit with an approved tenancy deposit scheme. The deposit is released at the end of the tenancy, if no party lodges a claim to part or all of the deposit to cover costs for repair or cleaning. If a landlord or agent wants to claim part or all of the deposit to cover costs, evidence must be submitted. An inventory is essential in this situation.
